Chadel Mathurin

Chadel is my younger sister but she is also my right-hand woman. She, without question, owns a piece of any measure of success that I have attained. She’s invested her time, her eyes (to ensure that some of my email responses are not too scathing), her money, her gifts, and her talents into almost every project I’ve built and launched.

She writes on Hair & Beauty for my online magazine Wakonté. She was my first model when I picked up my first camera, a point-and-shoot Nikon. Then again, she’s always been enthusiastic about posing. She’s so enthusiastic about posing that these days I get tired of taking her photos. Not that she needs me. She sometimes poses in front of the lens of the big men, and when she’s not in front of their lens, she’s in front of her own, doing her thing; Chadel has a thriving YouTube channel that caters to the intricacies and complexities of the black woman’s natural hair.
