I don’t remember how we met and we’ve never seen each other in person, but Kanayo, as we call him, has become a friend and a brother. He’s bailed me out in many ways, many times. Kanayo is a gifted storyteller, both with the lens and with the pen. He’s my right-hand man in Naija, and over the years has worked with me to bring Wakonté to life by photographing men like Made Kuti, or helping me get interesting subjects to be interviewed. I’ve been trying to get him to showcase his pen skills on Wakonté but thus far, I haven’t had any success.
